Inside, apple has been deploying progressively more powerful computing components into its flagship portable computer, an impressive feat when you consider that the chassis is the same size—0.61 by 13.75 by 9.5 inches (HWD)—and 4-pound weight as its predecessor. Four pounds và 0.61 inch thick is remarkably svelte for a powerhouse 15-inch laptop. It"s not unheard of, though, with the Dell Precision 5530 measuring 0.66 by 14.1 by 9.3 inches và weighing 3.9 pounds.

A Design-Forward Machine

Another standout feature is the 15.4-inch LED Retina display. Any Port You Want...If It"s USB-C

Benchmark Tests: Flexing i9 và Vega Muscle

Putting everything together, our Adobe Photoshop CC benchmark takes into account storage speed, CPU & GPU power, và memory, for a comprehensive look at a system"s ability khổng lồ handle complex workflows. Taken together with the Cinebench result, it"s clear that the macbook Pro"s main computing advantage is its CPU.

That doesn"t mean its graphics muscle is anything to lớn scoff at, however. The mobile Radeon Pro Vega đôi mươi GPU here uses a form of second-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM2) that"s rare in consumer devices. HBM2 has roughly twice the transfer rates of HBM, which in turn is faster than the memory used alongside most consumer graphics chips, called GDDR5. See How We test Laptops

The result is a graphics processor that"s capable of playing resource-intensive games at a full HD (1080p) resolution & maximum detail settings. More relevant is the Radeon Pro Vega"s ability lớn handle graphics-accelerated professional workflows. One proxy for this is the Cinebench OpenGL test, a benchmark that uses the OpenGL programming language khổng lồ simulate a typical GPU-accelerated rendering workflow.
